The 2,300 year old human “Old Croghan Man”‘s torso of an Irish that was found in a peat bog back in June of 2003.

The remains were naturally mummified and preserved so well that scientists were able to even determine his last meal after analyzing the contents of his stomach: wheat and buttermilk.

For at least 4 months prior to his death, he was shown to have a meat rich diet. Based on the length of his arms, he was estimated to have been over 1.8m tall which would have been extremely tall for that time period.

The man also had manicured nails which has led to speculation that he was not engaged in manual labor and was someone of high status. His body is currently on display at the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin.

유해는 자연 미라화해서 보존 상태가 매우 양호하여 과학자들은 그의 위 내용물(밀과 버터밀크)을 분석하여 그의 마지막 식사까지 확인할 수 있었다.

그는 사망하기 최소 4개월 전부터 고기를 많이 섭취한 것으로 나타났다.

팔 길이로 미루어 보아 키가 1.80cm가 넘었다고 추정되었는데, 이는 당시로서는 매우 큰 키였다.

옥스퍼드 대학교에 따르면, 당시 남성 평균 키는 약 165cm(5피트 5인치)였다.

그는 손톱에 매니큐어를 칠해 육체노동을 하지 않았으며 높은 지위에 있었을 것이라는 추측이 제기되었다.

시신은 현재 더블린에 있는 아일랜드 국립 박물관에 전시되어 있다.
