1700년이 넘었을 것으로 추정되는 이 좌상 조각은 멕시코 오악사카의 사포텍 양식Zapotec style of Oaxaca으로 분류된다.

열발광 분석 결과 기원전 285년에서 서기 515년 사이에 제작된 것으로 추정한다.

유약을 바른 도기로 만들었다.

머리 장식과 가슴 장식을 착용한 좌상 인물을 묘사한다.

가슴 장식에는 사포텍 달력의 날짜 상형문자로 추정되는 “물 13일”과 “플린트 칼 13일”이 새겨 있다.

크기는 32.2 x 17.9 x 18.8cm(12 11/16 x 7 1/16 x 7 3/8인치)다.

현재 미국 오하이오주 클리블랜드에 있는 클리블랜드 미술관에 있다.

1954년 한나 기금Hanna Fund 기증으로 미술관 소장품이 되었다.

Possibly over 1700 years old, this seated figure is attributed to the Zapotec style of Oaxaca, Mexico. Testing through thermoluminescence has dated this piece to have been made between 285 BC and 515 AD. It is made of ceramic with slip and depicts a seated individual wearing a headdress and chest ornament inscribed with what have been identified as Zapotec calendar day glyphs, “13 Water” and “13 Flint Knife.”

It measures 32.2 x 17.9 x 18.8 cm (12 11/16 x 7 1/16 x 7 3/8 in).
This artifact is now housed by the Cleveland Museum of Art in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. It entered the museum’s collection in 1954 as a gift of the Hanna Fund.
