This exquisite bronze oil lamp depicts Zeus transformed into an eagle as he carries Ganymede up to Olympus.

It originates from Vani, an important centre of ancient Colchis, located in present-day western Georgia.

The lamp features three spouts at the back, allowing for multiple flames.

It was likely designed to be suspended, as indicated by the attachment points that support a hanging display.

The lamp dates back to between 250 and 100 BC and was discovered in 2007, after which it underwent conservation at the Getty Villa.

뜻밖에도 정체가 청동 기름등잔이라 하는데, 그 모티브가 요상하다.

제우스가 독수리로 변신해 가니메데Ganymede를 올림푸스Olympus로 납치하는 장면을 포착했다 한다.

이 등잔은 현재 조지아 서부에 위치한 고대 콜키스Colchis의 중요한 중심지였던 바니Vani라는 데서 출토했다 한다.

등잔 뒷면에는 세 개 주둥이가 있어 여러 개 불꽃을 동시에 피울 수 있었다고.

매달아 전시할 수 있도록 부착 지점이 있는 것으로 보아 매달아 사용하는 용도로 제작되었을 가능성이 높댄다.

이 등잔은 기원전 250년에서 기원전 100년 사이의 것으로 추정되며, 2007년에 발견되어 게티 빌라Getty Villa에서 보존 처리를 거쳤다.
